Defensive Tactics Suits. Training suit for police, military and security organisations
FIST Tactical defensive training suit
Defensive tactics suits are valuable training aids for police, military security and other law enforcement instructors. The importance of relevance in training is becoming more and more evident.
|
The FIST defensive tactics suits also help officers come to grips with the dynamics of a defensive tactics confrontation.
Ask yourself, how long would you be able to sustain a full on attack? So many law enforcement officers, (especially security guards), work very hard for little pay. Going to the gym and exercising is a luxury many of them cannot afford. Yet, their very lives will one day depend on their level of
fitness. |
It is not uncommon for my trainees to comment, after that they did not realise how unfit they really were. The FIST defensive tactics suit makes the instructor and the trainees work far more intensely--and that is good, very good indeed.
I prefer the FIST defensive tactics suit because it does not restrict the instructor's movements as much as other suits do. You can run in it, make sudden turns, swing, kick, throw elbow and knee strikes --and generally cause a lot grief to the trainees--which is also a lot of fun.
The FIST defensive tactics suit can help provide evidence of duty of care and vicarious liability during civil damages and criminal law suits.
The level of force used by law enforcement officers is a contentious issue. There is little doubt that almost all police officers and security guards will be required to defend
the level of force they used at least once in their professional lifetimes.
As more and more mental health facilities close down, police and security are facing increased attacks from intellectually challenged individuals. The increase in abuse of
alcohol and drugs by juveniles is also another source of threat. It is not unusual today for an officer to be attacked by a 15 year old armed with a knife.
| I receive at least one call per week from lawyers asking for expert advice on the appropriate level of use of force. These calls are connected to civil claims for injuries or defence for security guards against criminal charges. My answer is always the same. Ask the security company to provide evidence of the training provided to their guards. If you can provide documented evidence that your level of training is adequate, government approved and conducted by authorised instructors, your chances of defending your actions improve dramatically--of course, if you violated the training guidelines you are in big trouble. |
